Disability Family Fun Day

After a year of staying at home, 12 families from our 1 Cor 1:27 Parent Support Group had a wonderful day planned by a group of youth volunteers. During COVID, the support group meet regularly online to foster relationships among families affected by disabilities. This was their first big in-person gathering and it was filled with laughter and joy.

In the morning, the families played games and did crafts at booths where they could earn points to exchange for rewards. After lunch, the youths buddied up with the families and joined the “Belonging in Chinatown” event celebrating the official reopening of Ping Tom Park.

Many parents shared that they were happy to see their children have fun and make new friends. They appreciated the kindness and patience of the youth volunteers. It was truly a memorable day for the children with disabilities, their parents and the youth who are learning to serve those in need.
