Youth Program
Navigating school, language barriers, and future goals can be challenging—especially for Chinese immigrant youth. Whether students are learning English or are already fluent, we provide the support they need to succeed in school and beyond, grow in confidence, and make a positive difference in their community.
At Pui Tak Center, we empower 7th–12th grade youth in Chicago’s Chinatown through ESL classes, after-school tutoring, ACT prep classes, volunteer opportunities, and summer enrichment programs that support academic success, personal growth, and community involvement.
After School Program
Location: 2216 South Wentworth Avenue, Chicago, IL (7-12 grade)
Location: 3000 South Wallace Street, Chicago, IL (7-8 grade)
Learning doesn’t have to end with the school day. Our popular After School Program is designed to not only provide homework tutoring for students, but also prepare students for high school or college, build character, and explore career paths and life purpose. Students have the opportunity to participate in different workshops, go on field trips and college visits.
There are two tracks available:
-
ESL After School Support for newer Chinese immigrant students, with additional ESL classes and individual English tutoring
-
Non-ESL After School Support for students who do not require ESL services
Registration typically opens in August for the Fall semester and in December for the Spring semester.
ASM Apprenticeship Programs (for Grades 9-12)
The Pui Tak Youth Program Advanced Apprenticeship offers hands-on experience in tutoring, service projects, event planning, and administrative tasks to support youth in Chinatown and Bridgeport area. The Coding Fun Apprenticeship introduces students to STEM, web design, and HTML coding.

Youth Volunteering
Join us in making a positive impact on our community through events like street clean-ups and phone banking, where youth have the opportunity to give back to their neighborhoods. These opportunities provide valuable experiences that help youth build leadership and teamwork skills while fostering a sense of responsibility. Whether through community service, advocacy, or workshops, there’s always a way to get involved and contribute.
Fill out the form to be notified of new volunteer opportunities.
Summer Program
Learning at Pui Tak Center continues through the summer! In addition to the Summer ASM Programs we offer, the Pui Tak Center Youth Summer Program, held annually from July to August, is an academic summer program that takes place on weekdays with a focus on ESL for bilingual students in grades 7–12. Students engage in high-quality English instruction and participate in field trips and outings that support their transition into the American school system during the school year.
Registration typically opens in late April.
