The overarching vision of the Outreach ministry is to reach out to Chinese immigrants who come to the Center for help. Very few of the immigrants attending our ESL classes and other programs are Christians or know Christians.
Throughout the week, there are seekers’ forums, a Bible study, evangelistic English classes and individual spiritual counseling.
During the year, we have special events such as Christmas and Easter celebrations, field trips, Gospel Cafés and an English Camp. These give volunteers precious opportunities to get to know and build relationships with students.
A new strategy this year is the English Camp which was held during weeks that the regular ESL classes were off. During the camp volunteers taught evangelistic ESL classes to a small group of students. We are thankful for the volunteers who rearranged their work schedule or home responsibilities to reach out to our students.Every summer, we have a field trip to Cantigny Park in Wheaton or to the Chicago Botanic Gardens.
One of the great benefits of being part of a special outreach event is that we experience a much deeper joy from experiencing God’s grace and witness life transformation. We are blessed! God desperately loves the poor and needy, and He commands us to help those in need. This is what we are called to do; and this is what the Pui Tak’s mission is all about.
Two of our greatest challenges are the follow-up of new believers and seekers and the recruitment of volunteers. Chicago’s Chinatown is a huge harvest field. The door is still wide open! It is right in your back yard. “The harvest is plenty but the workers are few.” If you are interested in partnering in our outreach work, contact our Director of Outreach, Rev. Dai Vay To at (312)328-1188×208 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
Are you interested in helping someone study the bible? Do you enjoy having thoughtful discussions with those seeking greater meaning in life? Maybe you can join our weekly bible study or discussion group designed for seekers. You can help students understand more about the gospel by helping out with our Christmas and Easter celebration, going on a field trip or teaching in our English Camp and more.
