Many new immigrants to America struggle with everyday life tasks simply because they are not equipped with the necessary English language skills. Imagine being in a world in which you are unable to ask about a bus schedule, order food, or carry on a meaningful conversation. This is the world of many of the ESL students we serve.
Paired with a tutor 1-on-1, adult students are given the chance to get their difficult questions answered about the English language and living in the U.S. Aside from forming meaningful relationships with Chinese immigrants, tutors also have the opportunity to help students in:
We also believe that the process of learning is never one-way. Students bring more than just English questions. They also bring rich life experiences and personal stories that hold deep significance to all of us in the program. The adult tutoring program seeks to provide an interactive learning environment where students and tutors can learn from each other and grow together. We hope to foster tutor-student relationships where the love of Jesus Christ can be put on display.
Small Group Topical Classes:
Small group topical classes are suitable for anyone wishing to gain specialized English-language skills in the hospitality industry or improve their ability to sound out letters and words. To offer more individualized attention to students, class size is limited to 9 students.
