When we first started in 1994, we had a lot of images of what we wanted to be. I envisioned us to be a lighthouse – giving hope to new immigrants who often feel lost as they make difficult adjustments to the U.S. Mr. Yeh, our board’s President, likened our work to a gas station–a place where immigrants could get different things on their journey.
With both images as our guide, our board and staff also wanted to be people who demonstrate God’s love–in both words and action. That’s why we selected Mark 10:45 to be our theme verse. It reads: “For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life as a ransom for many.”
